SCIENCE MONTH LAUNCH
DESIGN THE CHANGE...INSPIRE TO ACT

Science is simply the word we use to describe a method of organizing our curiosity.
Science is not a subject but a way of thinking.
Science is not just a tidy package of knowledge.
Science is not just a step-by-step approach to discovery.
Science is more like a mystery inviting anyone who is interested
in becoming a detective and joining in the fun.

To accomplish great things, we must not only plan but also believe … we must not only dream but also act. This was the message that A2 students passed on when they launched science month with their assembly on Nov 6th, 2016. At this stage of their education when they are ready to step to the world outside to live their dreams they left a legacy …. To be a scientist you need not learn science … Science in schools look like a collection of facts and figures but actually it is a way of thinking, it is questioning, it is observing, it is finding answers, it is bringing in a change, A change that would benefit us, our community and the world. So start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible. With this thought in mind, they launched the theme of the Science month “Design a change …. Inspire to Act

SCITED- DESIGN THE CHANGE....INSPIRE TO ACT
.
The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do. SCITED believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world and is driven by the goal: How can we best spread great ideas? Our agenda is to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation.
SCITED held on Nov 15th saw five speakers from different cultures, different age groups who believe no matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world, coming up on this platform to share their ideas and spark a conversation.
The topics of conversation were:
Climate change – is it a public health emergency? Taken as a whole, the range of published evidence indicates that the net damage costs of climate change are likely to be significant and to increase over time. Adisha Jamil of year 8 addressed this issue.
Workplace flexibility has become table stakes for attracting and retaining employees. Now companies must align their flexibility strategy with their core strategy to realize the benefits. Haniya Bashir of year 9 put her ideas of the workplaces of future.
Our planet is changing and we need to help it change for the better. There are a lot of things that affect our planet in a bad way but the good news is that everyone can help to reduce them and do their bit for the environment.
"Together, we can protect people and the environment  “Hassan Tawari of year 10 addressed this idea.
Today, nearly one in eight people in the world do not have enough food to eat.

And studies predict that as diets change and the world’s population grows to 9 billion people by 2050, we will need to increase food production by at least 60 percent to meet the global demand for food, all in the face of increasing pressures on natural resources.
“Together we can feed the world “.Hafsa Irfan of year 11 brought up her solutions to meet this emergency.

By 2035, global demand for energy will increase by 36%.Are we positioned to address the rising demand for secure, environmentally sustainable, and affordable global energy solutions, as well as the need for worldwide energy conservation? Abdullah Osama  of year AS came up with his ideas “ Together, we can build a secure energy future.”
SCITED aims to provide a platform for thinkers and visionaries, so that people around us can gain a better understanding of the biggest issues faced by the world, and feed a desire to help create a better future. Core to this goal is a belief that there is no greater force for changing the world than a powerful idea

STUDENT LED LEARNING

Students got the opportunity to showcase the hard work and creativity that they build in the classes. Weeks of coordination and planning with the guidance of teachers resulted in an enriching learning experience. The efforts of student teachers showcased to parents and everyone, how much our teachers do for us daily and how their teaching can impact our lives in future. They realized that taking responsibility of the class with meticulous planning and hours of practice  is a tedious process and  being a teacher  is not an easy job. They were very happy that they got the opportunity to teach other students at a young age and thanked school for giving them best experience till now. Being observed by parents was enriching as they shared their opinions and gave us feedback on our performance which we appreciate a lot.
